Stand outside during a hard rain and watch what happens at the bottom of a downspout. The gutters may be catching water exactly as they should, but if the downspout empties a few inches from the house, all that roof runoff is being released onto one small patch of ground. You may see mulch shift, a muddy spot develop, or water begin following the edge of the house.

That’s why we don’t stop our inspection at the gutter. For Downspout Extensions in Alpharetta, Crawl Space Ninja looks at where the downspout ends and whether an extension can carry that concentrated roof runoff farther from the house. Contact us online to schedule an inspection.

Anyone working around Alpharetta homes gets used to properties where the grade can change considerably from one side of the house to another. That’s part of Georgia’s rolling Piedmont landscape. You can see it around established streets near Downtown and Academy Street and again as residential areas spread toward Northwinds and GA-400.

Those elevation changes become important at ground level. A backyard may fall away nicely from one corner of the house while the opposite side has a shallow low spot beside a landscaped bed. We pay attention to those differences because an extension needs to fit the part of the property where it’s actually being installed.

Alpharetta Lots Don’t Stay Level for Long
