You know the spot. The rain stopped a couple of days ago, most of the lawn is firm again, but one strip still squishes under your shoes. Maybe the mower leaves a rut there, the grass struggles, or you’ve learned to walk around that side of the house because the ground always seems softer than everywhere else.

By the time you notice soggy grass, part of the drainage problem may already be happening below your feet. A French Drain Pipe creates an underground path designed to intercept excess water moving through saturated ground and carry it toward an appropriate outlet. If one section of your Alpharetta yard never seems to dry with the rest, contact Crawl Space Ninja online to schedule an inspection.

Spend enough time working around Alpharetta homes and you get used to yards that don’t stay level for long. That’s part of Georgia’s rolling Piedmont landscape. Around residential areas near Windward Parkway and farther north through Alpharetta, the front, side, and back yards of the same property can have noticeably different elevations.

We’ve walked properties where the front lawn is firm enough to mow while a side yard still leaves mud on your boots. Turn the corner and the grade may change again before you reach the backyard. Those differences matter because we’re interested in where the ground stays saturated, how large that area is, and whether an underground drain can intercept the moisture.

Some Alpharetta Yards Change With Every Few Steps
