10 years ago Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, introduced the world to a little device that would revolutionize the way we used our phones. Fast forward to today, and there are a great variety of little gadgets that improve our lives in one way or another. In the future our lives will be transformed by yet more devices which will perform all manner of functions. Today I introduce you to Vollara FRESH AIR Personal.
I got the chance to test out the Vollara FRESH AIR Personal and thought I’d share my experience.

I got the chance to check one of these out and see what it’s all about. It’s about 3 inches by 2 inches long and about an inch thick. Here’s a photo I took of the FreshAir Personal propped up on my desk.
The device was about half the size of an iPhone – fitting snuggly in the palm of my hand. Using the attached strap I put it around my neck and wore it around for a couple of hours, and also let it chill out on my desk. As soon as I flicked the power switch on, I could feel a coolness toward the front of the unit – almost as if a gentle stream of air was being emitted. It’s operation was completely silent – no noise whatsoever.
Our Toxic Modern Lives…
As inhabitants of the modern world, we unfortunately encounter by toxicity in varying degrees, wherever we go. Whether it’s particles from a car’s exhaust, or a constant stream of cigarette smoke wafting into your yard from your next door neighbor Geoff’s mother in-law Hilda, who seems to be there to stay. However, as inhabitants of this modern, often toxic world, we’re not completely helpless. No there are many ways in which tech can help us to clean or remove these toxins. The FreshAir Personal is one such example of tech designed to help to remove toxins from our environment.
But how does it work?
The FreshAir Personal uses electrodes to ionize the air. Ionization works by charging suspended molecules so that they attract other molecules. As more molecules clump together, they become heavier than the air around them, and can no longer stay afloat. They fall to the ground. The result is cleaner air with less particles.
The FreshAir Personal has a foldable stand attached to its back which you can flip out whenever you want to sit the little device on a surface like your desk. Another thing you can do is wear the FreshAir Personal like a necklace using the included strap. This portability aspect is convenient, allowing you to take clean air with you wherever you go.
According to the manual, the device has an operating life of 97600 hours which is just over 11 years. (The warranty covers the unit for 90 days) The device outputs 6 million ions per cubic centimeter of air. It runs on 3 volts of DC power. It weighs about 50 grams and is just under 4 inches in length. View the manual here.
The FreshAir Personal would be a great gift for someone who has breathing issues, or who works in an environment that has a lot of airborne pollutants. It sells for just under $100. If you’d like to order one click on the following link.
